Sharita Mona

Sharita Moná is a transformational teacher, speaker, author, and entrepreneur  who rebuilt her life and legacy after federal incarceration. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina–Greensboro, a master’s degree in Reading Education, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from North Carolina A&T State University. She is a certified business coach through NC State University and a Certified Purpose and Vision Navigator through the Inner Vision Institute for Spiritual Development, founded by Iyanla Vanzant.

With a career that spans education, mental health, entrepreneurship, and advocacy, Sharita has made impact her mission. She built a mental health agency with nine locations and more than 100 employees, later transitioning into consulting, project management, and executive coaching. She also launched an hourly drop-in childcare and Montessori preschool that served over 700 families. A respected educator, she’s served on the faculty at NC State, NC A&T, and as an adjunct instructor at Bennett College.

Sharita is the founder of Black Girls Cheer, a powerful movement advocating for equity in the cheerleading industry and creating platforms for cheerleaders of color. She co-founded Party of 5 Eventz alongside her daughter Victoria, scaling it into a nearly seven-figure event design and production company. The company not only produces immersive corporate experiences but also serves a higher mission—employing justice-involved individuals, partnering with local halfway houses, and offering transitional housing to people who face barriers to finding stable housing after incarceration.

Her growing TikTok platform has become a bold space for truth-telling, advocacy, financial empowerment, and entrepreneurial education. Sharita uses her platform to share real stories from her journey, advocate for prison reform, and demystify financial systems—from options trading to legacy-building.

Sharita is the author of Letters to My Daughter from the Inside: A Mother’s Journey from Incarceration to Liberation, a powerful collection of reflections written during her time in federal prison. The book has sparked a movement and inspired her upcoming podcast, Free At Last with Sharita Moná, where she explores stories of resilience, redemption, and generational wealth. She is set to appear on BET+’s American Gangster: Trap Queens and an upcoming Chrisley family reality series, continuing to use every platform to amplify her mission of liberation.

More than anything, Sharita is a devoted mother and grandmother, a creative visionary, and a woman on a mission to help others get free—emotionally, spiritually, physically, and financially. Her passions include reading, gardening, music, and event design. Her journey has been filled with joy, heartbreak, failure, and faith. But every step has revealed one truth: freedom isn’t a destination—it’s a daily decision.

“It’s been over two years since I walked out of those prison doors, and in hindsight, I now understand that I went to prison to be set free. Today, I feel more liberated than I ever have—though my journey continues to unfold. I believe with every fiber of my being that there was never a challenge God placed before me that He didn’t intend to guide me through.”

To every daughter, every woman, and every person who reads her story, Sharita offers this truth: freedom is not only possible—it’s your birthright.

“He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.”
