Christmas Eve Master Plan
After a freezing day and night, it seems like we are getting a little relief from the frigid temperatures. I guess all of our efforts to keep the wind out must have worked some. We used so many sanitary pads, mop heads and trash bags in an effort to plug the old leaking windows. I am lucky enough to be in a room with an operable window, but not everyone is so fortunate. Many of the rooms feel like a freezer. Speaking of refrigeration, as you walk around you can see the eggnog jugs from the gift bags perched in the windows. Apparently, the leaky windows are good for something and double as a refrigerator. I am not going to lie, I personally have two bottles of Dasani water in the bathroom across from me tucked safely under a mop head. LOL! You can't tell me it didn't come out of a stainless steel Kenmore.
The weather has caused a few issues with visitation. I personally was one that was looking forward to my family coming. However, the severe weather put a damper in their plans. This is also the case for others whose families are out of town. The locals on the other hand are used to these conditions and they are jumping into their greens and heading to the visitation room. I am personally jealous. LOL!
The big Christmas party is tonight. Fergie and her crew have worked extremely hard to pull off an event that will help soothe our aching hearts that long for home. There is so much interest in attending and so little space the party had to be broken up into two groups. The 42 and up crowd and the 41 and younger group. When I asked why the separation occurred at that juncture, apparently based on the census that is where the middle mark of the inmates is; half are 41 and younger, with the youngest being 22 years old. The other half is 42 and up with the oldest being 77 years old. Although I am suppose to go with the old crowd, we all know "black don't crack" so I am going to sneak into the younger section. It was a chill event; a day of BINGO and door prizes. I had not played BINGO is such a long time. I might add it to my list of things to do for leisure when I get out.
I spent most of my day in my room with my bunkie, White Girl Keisha. After weeks of living with me she finally revealed that she is a writer. And you know anytime I find out that someone has a dream I am all about helping them manifest it. I have been sitting with her for the past two days creating a master plan for her once she is released. Listen, I rightfully earned my line name Master-P. LOL!
The highlight of my day was my video call with my family. I knew going in that there were issues with the video system. The audio on the video is messed up. I knew that they would be able to hear me, but I would be unable hear them. And in true mini me fashion my kids came with a plan. They had paper and markers to write me signs. They even came prepared with games; Hang Man and Charades. They were so entertaining. Our visit was a testament to our relationship. From the time they were young girls they have kept me laughing and entertained. They have always known what I needed when I needed it. Nothing has stopped that, not even prison.
