Another Goodbye

Everyone is still waiting on the new FSA (First Step Act) update which is supposed to cause another round of immediate releases. The atmosphere here feels a little anxious as the wait continues. However, as always, we find humor in everything. There are some people who believe they will be immediately released once the credits hit. They have started clearing out their lockers, getting their hair done, and getting manicures and pedicures. It is entertaining to watch this whole thing unfold. And although I am curious to see the update, for myself and others, I always know that God's timing is perfect and when the doors are supposed to open for me, I will walk out. 

A few of us got together last night to celebrate Captain's departure. Yep, my buddy is about to exit the building on Wednesday. She did not want a big gathering so five of us got together and ate dinner, desert, and laughed our hearts out. Everyone that was there are people who came in just shortly before I did, so we literally have done the majority of our time together. We shared old stories and memories and of course made a ton of jokes. Captain was in tears and just kept talking about how she could not wait to sit around a table again with us on the outside one day and just laugh. It was bittersweet. It is always a blessing when someone leaves but it hits hard when it is someone close to you. Captain has written two books since being incarcerated; that is how she spent her time. I can't wait to see what life has in store for her. I am especially curious to see if her soulmate is at the halfway house she is going to. LOL! (Inside joke) 

I have had a chance to be apart of her journey and I am so grateful to have met her. Well done Captain! Never goodbye, just see you later.
