Terrific Tuesday

I woke up early this morning in order to see my work wife off. She finally left, after 21 months. She was so, so happy. She had a little pep in her step. I can't believe my Gayle is gone. I already miss the fact that I can't just pop up in her room for an impromptu deep dive conversation. Our boss, well her former boss, came into the classroom later in the day and asked me why I had a sad look on my face. I told him that I missed my friend. He then asked if I thought we would connect once we both got out. I replied, "ABSOLUTELY." And that is true. She is definitely one of the people I intend to stay connected with.

In between my first and second class I decided to head back to my room to do my laundry. Before I could get inside of my room I was greeted by two of my other friends. They both had huge smiles on their faces. I was then told that one of my friends, T.F., was granted her compassionate release and would be leaving in the next 48 hours. WOW! I cannot believe it. I watched her write her butt off over the past few months. She never gave up fighting for her release and today it paid off.

We were in the middle of getting ready to celebrate the transfer of another friend, N.W., who is heading to Alderson in West Virginia on Thursday, but the celebration turned into a double celebration for two people, which is good thing. After count, we all got together to celebrate and chat.

I guess tomorrow I will be back on the van again watching another friend take her symbolic walk. This has been one terrific Tuesday!
